Hair Care - Herbal Tips

Shampoo and Conditioner

People who have dandruff, hair fall, grey hair have to wash hair preferably every alternate day ot atleast twice a week. Apply Conditioner whenever you wash hair. Keep your damp hair in a towel for about 15 minutes. Comb it in a gentle massage like movements and only brush gently.

Oiling hair every time before wash, isnt a gr8 idea. Once a fortnight oiling is fine. To wash your hair, always wet it first before applying shampoo. Then, lather it by massaging with your fingertips. Rinse thoroughly until clean.

Avoid using shampoos with alcohol. Dont use dove or pantene. Use something like herbal essence. Condition your hair every time after you wash it.

Dandruff:

Unfortunately there is no cure for dandruff yet.once you get it you may continue to have it, but there are ways that you can control and limit dandruff.

If you have mild dandruff, shampooing your hair with a regular shampoo daily will usually yeild good results. Stronger shampoos can irritate and dry out your hair making flakes more. An anti-dandruff shampoo should improve your dandruff signifigantly in a couple of weeks. Once you have found an anti-dandruff shampoo that works for you, keep on using it or your dandruff will most likely reoccur.

Poor health may be the cause of your dandruff, so be sure to get enough sleep, eat nutritiously, and avoid stress inducing activities. Something in your diet may cause you to have an allergic reaction and trigger dandruff. Some foods that commonly cause an alergic reaction causing dandruff include nuts, choclate and shellfish.

If you have to scratch your head, avoid using your fingernails to scratch, instead use the pads of your fingers. Wear a hat outdoor, on days that are extremely cold, windy, and when you're going to be out in the sun for a lengthy period.

Make sure that you get an adequate ammount of B6 in your diet, which will help prevent dandruff. Ready-to-eat cereals are rich sources for B6.

Tips to stop Dandruff:

(1) Fenugreek (called menthulu in Telugu) seeds is one of the most easiest and important remedies in the treatment of dandruff. Two tablespoons of these seeds should be soaked overnight in water and ground into a fine paste in the morning. This paste should be applied all over the scalp and left for half an hour. The hair should then be washed thoroughly with shikakai. Use a teaspoon of fresh lime juice for the last rinse, while washing the hair. This not only leaves the hair glowing but also removes stickiness and prevents dandruff.

(2) Hair should be washed twice a week with two tablespoons of green gram powder mixed with half a cup of curd. Massage scalp with the finger tips while wash.

(3) Rub the scalp with snake gourd juice over the scalp every night and was hair next morning. Do this for a week and you would find good result.

(4) Dandruff can be removed by massaging the hair for half an hour with curd which has been kept in the open for three days or with a few drops of lime juice mixed with amla juice every night, before going to bed.

How to prepare a herbal shampoo:

(1) Immerse 100 gm multani clay in water. After two hours make a paste and apply gently in the hair. Wash the hair after 5-10 minutes in winters with warm water and normal water in summers. If hair is very dirty do it twice a week; the hair becomes soft, silky and long.

(2) Make a paste of gram pulse flour and apply on the hair twice a week and wash after an hour. The hair becomes black, dense, clean, shining and soft. It also relieves itching or cures boils in the head.

How to make Herbal Hair Color:

One can make a hair pack by taking henna powder, adding limejuice and curd to it. Leave it on hair for at least 30 minutes and wash it. It's a very good conditioner to the hair and gives them a nice color.

Egg white make wonders on hair. Apply it 30mins before headbath.

+ It acts as a good conditioner

Beat 2 egg yolk. Add a spoon of henna and a spoon of curd. Apply on hair for 45mins and wash. Do this once a month.

+ Prevents premature graying of the hair.

Beat 2 eggs and apply on dry hair and wash it after 45 mins.

+ Makes hair smooth and silky.

Mash a banana, add a bsp of honey and mix well. Wet hair with lukewarm water and apply the mixture over the hair. Put the shower cap on and wash it after 60 min.

Boil Curry Leaves in coconut oil for few minutes. Cool it and then remove the curry leaves, mix olive oil(1/2 the amount of coconut oil). Store it in a bottle and use it to massage on your hair and scalp

+ Useful to those who have boils and itching on their scalp.

Take coconut oil, mix 1/4 th mustard oil to it and one lime's juice. Apply this to hair and wash it after 30 mins.

+ Get rid of dandruff
+ Makes the hair shiny

Make a paste of amla, reethi and shikakai powders. Apply it on hair ans wash it after 45 mins.

+ Makes hair silky smooth
+ Prevents hair fall

Heat two teaspoons butter in microwave for a minute, add a spoon olive oil to it and massage hair with it. Wash it after 30mins.

+ Makes strands extremely silky

Soak fenugreek seeds in mustard oil overnight. Boil them in the same oil in the morning. Remove the seeds from the oil and store the oil in a bottle. Apply this oil twice or thrice a week.

Remedies for headaches

Dip a small towel in cold water and apply to forehead. Once the towel gets warm, flip it to the other side, or dip it into cold water again.

Lying down in a dark room n getting a 1/2 hour of sleep, will always make you feel better.

A decoction of half a teaspoon mustard seeds powder and three teaspoons water, if instilled in the nostrils, reduces migraine.

Ripe grape juice is an effective home remedy for a migraine.

For a sinus headache, eating a jalapeno pepper gives relief ASAP. Within minutes sinuses will start to drain and the sinus headache will subside.

A peppermint steam inhalation provides quick relief for sinus headaches.

Mix 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in 1 teaspoon water and apply on the forehead. It is very effective in headache due to exposure to cold air.

Make a paste from dry ginger with a little water or milk, apply to the forehead for sinus relief.

Grind Basil leaves with cloves and dried ginger into a paste and apply to forehead for sinus cure.

For a painful sinus headache, hot footbath along with a cold compress on the forehead is a sure releif.

Tips to cut down Fats

Replace sugar with honey n salt with lime. Avoid consumption of Non-Veg in the nights.

Eat Dinner early. Less caloric. Prefer fruits. (With low consumption in the nights, the psychological feel that u will be hungry in the middle of the night, will keep haunting u. But, the fact most of the people do not know is that, you would have a deep sleep by doing this. This is coz, if u keep on eating till late in the night, the digestive system, keeps working n though u rest, it doesn’t. So, lots of people have bad sleep during nights. U would have a peaceful n happy sleep only when all the parts of your body rest. This is the main reason, doctors advise us 2 eat early in the night n also easy digestible food. Coz, Non-Veg takes min of 6 hrs 2 digest, whereas, fruits take 2 hrs. Even after this, if u are still hungry, drink a glass of water with 2 spoons of honey).

When you eat oily food, for instance, say biryani, Observe your hand while you wash it. The hand requires more amount of soap, than usually required. Since, it’s an external organ; you would clean it with extra efforts. How would you do the same with the intestines n stomach which has been coated with loads of oil till date???? So, the smart way is only, avoiding the intake of oily foods. Coz, once affected, can’t be cured easily. Deep fries and oil content foods are to be avoided. No oil is good and the better of all is olive oil.

People fond of peanuts, can consume it in the form of sprouts. All dry fruit nuts should be soaked in water for 10-12 hrs. If u eat them after this, there would be no cholesterol in it. Coz, the cholesterol is lost in the water and it gives you just energy and no fat.

Starving is good

Planning a diet, should be a complete balance of proteins, carbs n fiber. First, you got to know the difference between, hungry and feeling hungry. You have to eat when you are hungry and not when you feel you are hungry. You can easily survive for minimum of a day without any food consumption. So, starving your stomach once or twice a month is good.

People feel starving is bad and with the psychological feeling that they will get weak if they don’t eat anything. But the best suggestion is that you don’t eat anything 24 hrs of a day and just drink water throughout the day, once an hour at least. FRUITS

Fruits is one of the most healthy and natural foods in existence. There are thousand types of fruit available to eat, all of which provide us strong health benefits. Fruit contains a large number of vitamins, minerals. It has also been shown that eating the whole fruit or juice is best to gain the benefits rather than taking supplements.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

COKE

In many places, highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke to remove blood from the highway after accidents. You can put a bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days. To clean a toilet, pour a can of Coke into the comode n let it for an hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains. To remove rust spots from car bumpers, rub the bumper with foil dipped in Coke. To clean car battery terminals, pour a can of Coke over the terminals. To loosen a rusted bolt, Apply a cloth soaked in Coke to the rusted bolt for few minutes. To remove grease from clothes, empty a can of Coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and wash. Coke will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Coke leaches calcium from bones. Coke is been used to clean the engines of trucks for about 20 years.

Remedies for tired eyes

Lots of us sit in front of the computers and laptops. Long run can tire eyes and also could affect eye sight.

For tired eyes, wash them with cold water, several times a day. This moisturizers the skin and tissues, relaxes the eyes & provides relief from eyestrain & fatigue.

Lavender oil offers gentle relief for tired and strained eyes. Add a drop of oil to 2 ½ cups of water and shake the solution well. Dip two cotton wool pads in the liquid, squeeze out the excess water and place one pad over each eye.

Sugarcane juice is very good for health, if u consume it directly. Not drinking the
juice from outside... You could be the next victim...

One of my friends uncle works in health department. He is a food inspector. Their job is to inspect all hawkers, their cooked food, their store, hygiene, etc. They found sugar cane juice has the highest content of bacteria among all food. They went around all sugar cane stores and watched the way the hawkers handled their sugar cane, wash their glasses, their entire procedure. But they couldn't find the problem.

One day, they stayed till closing time and discovered some shocking facts. Whenever, the hawkers closed their stores, they would wash the floor with detergent. As we know, the remaining sugar canes will be placed at the back of the store, vertically standing and as sugar canes tend to absorb whatever liquid around them. Besides the soapy water, the dirt on hawkers' boots, cats' urine, etc, will all be absorbed.

A known lady in the neighbourhood of a friend, loved sugar cane juice, was pregnant. She was always drinking sugar cane juice. Anyway, one day she miscarried and the foetus was already like 6 or 7 months old, I think. When the doctors did an autopsy to find out why all of sudden the foetus had died inside her, they found traces of some chemical substance, which was found in cat's urine. Large traces of it. While it would not be able to harm adults, it was extremely toxic to babies, foetus. So they tried to determine how this cat's urine thing could have ended up in the foetus.This meant that it had to be digested by the mother. And the only logical conclusion they could come up with was that since these sugar cane juice stall holders just leave the canes lying around on the wet and dirty floor, it would not be impossible to think that straycats could have peed on those sugar canes or near those sugar canes.

So think carefully the next time you order that favorite sugar cane juice.

Tips for avoiding Heart Attacks

Every race is vulnerable to some disease and unfortunately, Indians are three times vulnerable for the most expensive disease, HEART ATTACK. Marriages within close relatives (co-sanguinity) leads to congenital abnormalities.

It's still a grave shock to hear that some apparently healthy person gets a cardiac arrest. Many of us have an irregular daily routine and many a times we have to stay late nights. When you are young, nature protects us against all these irregularities. However, as we grow older, u gotto respect the clock. That is why its recommended to everyone, past the age of 30 to undergo routine health checkups. Heart diseases are hereditary. Nature protects women till the age of 45. So the rate of heart attacks are more in men than in women. Changed lifestyles, smoking, junk food, lack of exercise is the main cause of a steep increase in heart problems amongst youngsters.

Never stress your heart. Change your attitude towards life. Do not look for perfection in everything in life. This could help your heart to de-stress. Regular exercise is always suggested and walking is better than jogging since jogging leads to early fatigue and injury to joints.

Many docters suggest Routine check ups for blood test to ensure sugar and cholesterol are normal and also BP Chk is important. It is possible for a person to have BP outside the normal range of 120/80 and yet be perfectly healthy. Extremely rare people with low blood pressure suffer heart diseases. There is a relation between heart problems and blood sugar. A strong relationship since diabetics are more vulnerable to heart attacks than non-diabetics.

First Aid tips for attacks: Help the person into a sleeping position, put an aspirin tablet under the tongue with a sorbitrate tablet if available. Rush him to a coronary care unit since the maximum casualty takes place within the first hour. A person can help himself during a heart attack. Do not wait for ambulance. Extremely difficult to differentiate between pain caused by a heart attack and that caused due to gastric trouble, without ECG.

Cholesterol accumulates in the body from childhood. Best n worst food for heart is fruits and oil. People beleive eating fish is good for heart... But its not. Most drugs have some side effects. However, modern anti-hypertensive drugs are extremely safe. Controling diet, walking and eat walnuts control cholestrol without using medicines. Yoga helps in heart ailments.

Sometimes, due to the hectic schedules we are not able to exercise. So, walking while doing daily chores at home or climbing the stairs in the house, work as a substitute for exercise. Avoiding sitting continuously for more than half an hour and even the act of getting out of the chair and going to another chair and sitting helps a lot. You tend to eat junk food when the food habits are irregular and your body's enzyme release for digestion gets confused.

Things one needs to take care of after a heart operation are Diet, exercise, drugs on time, Control cholesterol, BP, weight. Five thumb rules to take care of his heart:

1. Diet - Less of carbohydrate, more of protein, less oil
2. Exercise - Half an hour's walk, at least five days a week; avoid lifts and avoid sitting for a longtime
3. Quit smoking
4. Control weight
5. Control blood pressure and sugar

Breakfast can help prevent strokes, heart attack and sudden death. Doctors advice on not to skip breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Recent research confirms that one of the worst practices you can develop is avoiding breakfast.

The frequency of heart attack, sudden death, and stroke peaks between 6:00a.m. and noon, with the highest incidence being between 8: 00a.m. and 10:00a.m. What mechanism within the body could account for this significant jump in sudden death in the early morning hours?

Platelet, tiny elements in the blood that keep us from bleeding to Death if we get a cut, clump together inside our arteries due to cholesterol buildup in the artery lining. It is in the morning hours that platelets become the most activated and tend to form these internal blood clots at the greatest frequency. Getting to the deeper side of me... Everyone says, I have good writing skills, but, when I key inn to describe myself, I now realize I am still poor at it. I am pretty simple and a self-ruler with a sponge like nature. I love to enjoy my life each day, and believe in “You live only once, but if you work it right, once is enough”...

I find happiness in simple things; take time to appreciate good things and talented people. I am adventurous and open to new things, not a party animal, but love to hang out with friends, love traveling and visiting new places. Can sacrifice things for causes in which I passionately believe. Very assertive in protecting my freedom.
 
What do I actually do for my living???
I am a Database Specialist at NYC DoITT (New York City Department Of Information Technology & Telecommunications). I work on SQL Server, Business Intelligence and SharePoint.

Education:
I have a Masters Degree in Computer Science from NYIT, New York and Bachelors in Electronics & Communications.  I work on SQL Server, Business Intelligence and SharePoint.

Planning to do my MBA or PhD, but not in the next couple of years.

Passion and Part time:
